Dear Friends and Supporters,
I’d like to say a big thank you on behalf of the trustees of Source of Hope. It’s been quite a journey from first deciding to create this charity to actually getting full status and everything required for the launching, including our website. A big “thank you” goes to everyone concerned in making all this possible.
Having just returned from a 2 week visit to Kenya, I was encouraged by the work that has been done in the first few months of Source of Hopes support. Greater Love School was in the throes of extending the classrooms. The library is being lined and bookcases are being fitted, single sheets of corrugated iron from the roof of each classroom have been replaced with sheets of clear Perspex. That has made a huge difference, because classrooms have been transformed by introducing natural light. Workbooks are purchased so each child has his own book. All work will be finished for the first day of term in May.
We estimate our budget for 2018 to be around £48,000. So far support given or promised until the end of December, including gift aid, has been estimated to be in the region of £42,000.
For that we thank God, for His provision and the encouragement that you have given to those children and families in Kenya by your generous support.
When you visit a country like Kenya, you are under no illusions that you can change everything, but you can affect the lives of people you meet. Very obvious needs could be seen as I travelled around, visiting projects, ministering and sharing the good news of Salvation.
So, wanting to see the heart of God, I prayed that I would see how we could bless those families and communities. On the attached page there are 5 projects I believe will, in one instance, affect for good a whole community of several 1000’s of people, and in another, change the circumstances of an individual family.
The First of Our 5 New Projects
The enclosed picture shows the hand water pump in the village of Musukini that supplied a community of around a 1000 families and has now ceased to work. We propose to replace this with a solar and electric pump capable of pumping around 25,000 litres in 24 hours to help transform the health of this community.
